Buying second hand furniture in Dubai

Dubai is full of good furniture leaving with people who move on. Buying it second hand saves a lot of money, as long as you check the right things and do not end up hiring a van for a sofa that will not fit through the door.

Measure before you fall in love

  1. Measure the space where it will go, leaving room to walk around it.
  2. Measure the way in: your front door, the lift, and any tight corners in the corridor.
  3. Ask the seller for width, depth and height if they are not in the listing, and whether it comes apart.

What to check before you pay

On Loop you can message the seller from the listing to ask any of this before you buy.

Getting it home

The hardest part of buying used furniture is usually the move: finding a van, people to carry it, and a time that suits a stranger. On Loop that is part of the purchase:

  1. Pay in the app. Delivery is shown at checkout, based on the item's size and where it is going. Your payment is held with Buyer Protection.
  2. Pick the days you can be home. The seller does the same, and the first day that suits you both becomes the delivery day.
  3. Helpers bring it in. They collect from the seller's home and take it into yours.
  4. Check it. You have 24 hours after delivery to report a problem before the seller is paid.
